Thrive Tribe selected to be a part of the National Diabetes Prevention Programme

May 9, 2022

Thrive Tribe are delighted to confirm that we have been chosen as one of five providers to deliver the National Diabetes Prevention Programme (NDPP) over the next three years.

Over that time, Thrive Tribe will be delivering group support as part of a nine month programme, supporting individuals to make long term behavioural change and to help halt or reverse the progression of Type 2 Diabetes.

As well as a universal offer to the general population, specialist online programmes will also be provided to those with impaired hearing, impaired sight, clients from a South Asian background and women with a history of gestational diabetes (all high risk groups for Type 2 Diabetes).

Becoming part of the NDPP framework is the latest addition to a growing range of public health provision from the company, which delivers a number of healthy lifestyle services across the UK, helping thousands of people each year to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.

And Thrive Tribe’s provision will get underway in August 2022 as they support residents across Cornwall to improve their health and wellbeing.

“We are excited to bring our innovative, client centred approach to the NDPP and look forward to supporting thousands of people across England to improve their health. Type 2 Diabetes has a huge personal, social and economic impact, yet can be prevented in most people.

“Thrive Tribe has a strong track record in supporting people to change their behaviours and we look forward to helping reduce this impact and empowering our clients to thrive.”

Tim Roberts, Chief Executive Officer, Thrive Tribe

In line with the rest of their services, which include smoking cessation, adult weight management and physical activity programmes, Thrive Tribe are aiming to bring an innovative, client-centred behaviour change approaches to the NDPP to deliver successful outcomes for clients.

Mobilising plans for the NDPP programme are well underway. Various teams are working to finalise plans for face to face sessions, remotely accessed activities, and engaging digital programmes to support weight loss. Second Nature will provide our digital offer, they have delivered NDPP since its inception and are fully experienced in delivering excellent outcomes on the programme.

“We’re thrilled to have this opportunity to use our experience of delivering Integrated Healthy Lifestyle Services to support people at risk of diabetes.”
